Sundance 2011!

We have been wanting to go check out Sundance since 2010 (at least), so this year we decided to make it happen with the help of Jacqui's friend Corey. He was volunteering at Sundance in Park City, so it was the perfect opportunity for us to go to Park City and check it out. We have been looking forward to going ever since we set a day to go. Neither of us have school on Wednesdays, so it was the perfect day for a field trip! We left Logan around 12 pm, and it was pretty cold and foggy. We were happy to get out of the canyon to find a really bright sun, not so cold air and no fog! We live in a fog bubble in Logan sometimes it seems like.

We stopped in Roy to visit Jacqui's Grandma. We got to see her about an hour before she passed away at 94 years old, which Jacqui was very grateful for.

We had about a half hour in Roy before we had to leave for Park City so we decided to have a little bit of fun. We decided to go and get a 'get well soon' balloon, and take it to Jacqui's sister Heidi at school. Heidi had a little cold, and we wanted her to know that we care about her and hope she gets feeling better. There is no better way to let someone know than by taking them a balloon to High School, and let them carry it around. We dropped the balloon off at the office, and left before Heidi saw us. We know that she wasn't embarrassed and that she really appreciated it.

We stopped for a quick lunch at Wendy's and then were on our way! The drive there was really nice...the sun was shining, we had an iPod full of music, and we were eating frosty's.

Entering Parleys Canyon! Almost there!

When we got to Sundance one of the first big stops of the day was at Maverick. The reason this was a big stop, was because we passed this Maverick at least 7 times...and its not even a part of Main Street. We met up with Corey, and he helped us find a parking spot. We were a little worried at first because Corey was a little bit grumpy (sorry Corey, but you were. We were about ready to leave ha ha jk). But after he ate a styrofoam cup full of goldfish he was as good as new!

We caught our first bus, and it took us in a complete loop back to where we started...which is not where we wanted to go. So we caught another bus that took us to Main Street where all of the action was happening.

Our first stop of the afternoon was to Music Cafe. We walked in after Corey, and the lady at the door asked to see our 'credentials'...We had no idea what we were supposed to show this lady, and if we even had any 'credentials' in our posession. We almost pulled out our resumes but unfortunately did not have them on us.  Then the other lady standing at the door, Corey's mom (who also volunteers), told the first lady that it was okay and to let us in.

The Music Cafe was a little room with a stage, and it was pretty packed with people. We were some of the lucky few to be allowed in, especially since we didn't have 'credentials'.

The first artist that performed at the Music Cafe was St. Vincent. This girl had a very unique sound, and we all really enjoyed her.

The next artists to perform were the Secret Sister's. They were these two girls that were absolutely adorable. They had such a unique sound, and they were both really good. They switched off playing the guitar and they both sang. They were really fun to watch, and were really funny as well. We even ran into these girls back in the green room after their set.

We decided to stay for the third and last artist, because Jacqui and I recognized his name. Matt Nathanson. The only song of his that we really knew was Come on Get Higher...Corey hadn't heard it though, but I'm pretty sure that in the end he was glad he got to hear Scott Nathanson, or Nathan Scott perform. My (Lindsay) friend Amy really loves Matt Nathanson, so I was excited to tell her that we were at his concert. I was a good friend though and called her so that she could listen while he sang his hit song. It was funny because during the concert he sang the song Jesse's Girl, and he asked for crowd participation. Corey and I (Lindsay) knew the words to the song, and we were singing along, but Jacqui somehow didn't know the song. After the song was over, one of the ladies that was standing in front of us turned around and said to me, "You are just too young to know this song!" Which was silly because Corey and I had been singing along the whole time.

Another fun thing about the Music Cafe was that we got free water bottles. Not just your average plastic water bottle, but a nice, cute light green Nalgene one...it even has the Sundance logo on it! They are pretty awesome.

When we left the Music Cafe we were all ready to go eat dinner. We went to a mexican restaurant that Corey found out about called El Chubasco (I think). It was really good food for a really good price. Supposedly it was named Best Salsa Bar in Utah! Which is totally understandable because they had a lot of different options for salsa, ranked in hotness by a picture of 1-4 peppers.

After dinner we went and got our car and drove over to a new parking lot so that we could visit New Frontier. New Frontier had a few different art exhibits/movies/other artsy stuff. There were a lot of really cool things to look at. James Franco had a small exhibit there, a movie he made using clips from the TV show Three's Company. He had voiced over all of the characters, and it was really funny! I'm glad that we got to see it, because I had been wanting to! There was also a 3-d movie that left us all in a trance...we were pretty sure we got hypnotized, it was so good! There was a cool thing using smoke and butterflies (hard to explain, but it was neat), and there was a cool thing that was reflecting images onto cd's. It was really fun to walk around and look at the different things and watch the different movies.

When we left New Frontier we warmed our hands by a fire outside of the building. Surrounding the fire was a lot of little crystals. We each took a crystal as a souvineer and memory of our trip to Sundance '11.

We walked back to our car and said goodbye to Sundance. It was the perfect get away, and we even got to see that Maverick one last time before we left town.

Whose is who?

Back in the beginning of December we went on our first double date together (with boys, obviously). Before the date we had no idea who was going on the date with who. When they picked us up Jacqui made the mistake of sitting in the front seat before the seating arrangments were given...this caused a lot of confusion, Lindsay thought she was going to be driving their car at one point because of Jacqui's minor mistake.

Off to the ice skating rink we drove, still confused! When we got there we were surprised to see our whole ward there on double dates as well. We got our skates on, and headed to the sheet of ice. We started going around the rink, Lindsay staying close to the wall and Jacqui venturing away. At first we thought maybe the confusion was over because Boy #1 was skating with Lindsay, and Boy #2 was skating with Jacqui. We skated around the rink for about 20 minutes getting to know each other. And then suddenly the boys switched places! Now Boy #1 was skating with Jacqui, and Boy #2 was skating with Lindsay. We didn't know what was going on, but we went along with it anyways, and got to know the new boy we were skating with. This kept on happening, the boys switching places about every 20 minutes! At one point they were off doing a trick together, so we asked each other who we were on the date with...neither of us knew!

When our ankles started getting sore, we left. We were now on our way to the store to get supplies for root beer floats. After we got our supplies we headed back to Boy #1's apartment to make our root beer floats. When we got to the apartment, Boy #1 stopped us at the door and explained that there was a big group date going on inside. He said that we could either join that big group date, or stay with our small double date and watch a movie (we could tell they wanted to watch a movie with us). He opened the door to his apartment and we were met with a very quiet living room and one single boy using his laptop. We looked at each other, holding back our laughter and wondering if this was his idea of a big group date....then we went into the kitchen and stumbled upon the 'big group date', which consisted of 2 girls, 2 boys, and a quiet game of cards. We didn't even hear them when we went into the apartment!

While we were waiting for Boy #1 to eat a burrito for dinner, we found a pad of post-it notes. We decided to write Jacqsay on the post-its and hide them around the apartment. We found one bedroom that was unlocked with no one inside so we hid quite a few post-its with our name on it in there. We thought it was pretty funny.

After Boy #1 finished his burrito, and we finished hiding post-it notes, the boys made us our root beer floats. Jacqui was sitting on one couch and Lindsay was sitting on the other couch. Boy #1 sat by Lindsay, and Boy #2 sat by Jacqui. We enjoyed our root beer floats...while we were drinking them we asked the boys if they would play one of our favorite games with us. We told them about the game- we would blindfold and duct tape the boys hands and legs togther, drop them off somewhere, and then they would have to find their way back. They didn't think it was a very good idea, but Boy #1 had duct tape and brought it out anyways. Boy #2 watched on as we duct taped Boy #1's ankles together. After he realized what was happening, he broke free and tried to get the duct tape from us. Naturally we each stood in different corners of the living room, and began tossing the roll of duct tape back and forth to each other so that Boy #1 wouldn't get it. Then Jacqui yelled out 'Monkey in the middle!' and the game intensified. Boy #1 told us he was surprised he hadn't gotten the duct tape from us yet. Finally Boy #2 intervened and stole the duct tape. It was so funny! We hadn't laughed that long in probably a few days.

We were all tired from playing monkey in the middle so Boy #1 showed us a few magic tricks, and then we decided to watch the movie Hot Rod. Again, Lindsay was sitting on one couch, and Jacqui was sitting on the other. But this time Boy #1 decided to sit by Jacqui and Boy #2 decided to sit by Lindsay. Now we were still really confused. The movie was really funny, we liked it a lot more than we thought we would.

After the movie we decided to play a game of telephone, so Jacqui and Boy #1 moved to the couch by Lindsay and Boy #2. Lindsay and Jacqui were sitting in the middle of the two boys, so it was easy for us to make this game a little more interesting. Everytime Boy #1 would start, Jacqui and Lindsay would mess up whatever he said before passing it on to Boy #2. It was really funny, for us at least. Sometime during this game Jacqui stole Boy #1's phone, and passed it to Lindsay.

The boys didn't want us to leave and kept talking to us after we finished telephone. Finally a little after 2, we decided it was time to go. Boy #1 decided just to stay at his apartment, so Boy #2 took us home. Boy #1 gave both of us hugs as we were leaving, and then he realized he didn't have his phone. He took Jacqui's coat so that we would give him his phone back. Instead of giving it back we both wore Lindsay's coat, and left with Boy #2 and Boy #1's phone. We got out to the car, and our conscience kicked in...we decided we should probably give him his phone back, and that Jacqui would eventually need her own (ugly) coat.

Boy #2 took us back to apartment, and walked us up to our door. He insisted that we both link arms with him as he walked us to our building. He walked us upstairs to our apartment, and hugged us both good bye.

This left us even more confused. We still have no idea which boy we were on the date with. Whose is who? Maybe you can figure it out.

After telling our parents (and many others) about our funny date, Jacqui's dad said it reminded him of an episode of Seinfeld where Kramer and a midget go on a date with two girls, and don't know which one they were on the date with.

We will add the clips from that episode of Seinfeld that reminds us of our date when we find them...so stay tuned!
