Memories From This Semester..

Well, since the semester is almost over with finals starting tomorrow, we figured we would write some of our favorite memories from this year so far!

We will start with the night we moved in to our new apartment. We both got to Logan around 10 pm and were excited to be here. Jacqui spent the summer in St. Thomas, and Lindsay spent the summer student teaching in pre-school, so it was nice to get back to normal. We started moving things up to our apartment on the third floor, walked in, and much to our surprise had NO power! So basically we had to move all of our stuff in in complete darkness. None of our new roommates were here and the only light we had was the lights from our cell phones. It was actually pretty funny. When we were down at our cars about to make probably our third trip up, we saw a group of people (mainly boys) go into our building and walk to the top floor (where our apartment is). We followed them up, thinking that either the two girls that were with them were probably our new roommates, or that they lived in the apartment across the hall from us. We opened our door and were met with all of them yelling 'surprise!' We stopped in the doorway, and everyone was laughing. We then asked the girls if they lived here, and they said no. They then asked us if we lived there and we said no, that we just followed them up to see what they were doing. It was really funny, because we turned their little prank back around on them! (As a side note, we actually ended up being friends with some of these boys later) That night we ended up staying up way too late, sitting in the living room with our front door open (so that we could have light from the hallway) and talked. It was interesting getting ready for the first day of school with no power, but we managed! Luckily one of our roommates took the initiative and got the power turned on for us! Thank you Clelia!

The firts week of school was pretty exciting for us. We were back in Logan with 2 years under our belts, and experts at our game. We went to FHE on monday night, got to know some people, reintroduced ourselves to our bishop, and then started walking home. As we were walking through the church parking lot there was a group of boys standing by a truck, getting ready to leave. They started yelling hello to us, and asked us if we wanted a ride. In true Jacqsay fashion we just smiled and waved (continuously) as we walked by, and pretended we had no idea what they were saying. We reached the sidewalk, and were out of their view. We started laughing, because it was a really funny situation. Then a few seconds later the truck pulls onto the street, and pulls up behind us. There were 3 guys in the pickup, and 3 in the cab, all with hands full of scones. They asked us once again if we wanted a ride, and we told them that we couldn't take rides from strangers unless we saw their temple reccomends first. A girl (or 2) can never be too safe. They thought we were funny, but showed us their temple reccomends anyways. We chatted for a few minutes, and they offered us a ride once more. We kept stalling until this boy got out of the front seat. I looked at Jacqui and said "Look who it is, we haven't seen him forever." (We like to play a little game where we pretend like we know people, when we really have never met them. It confuses them, and sometimes they actually fall for it, feeling embarrassed that they don't remember us. We have been mastering this skill for quite awhile now, and are actually really good at it. Now back to the story..) Jacqui instantly played along, and gave the guy a hug, and then I gave him a hug. He was trying to figure out where he knew us from, because he couldn't remember us. His friends were pretty upset that he 'knew' us, and ended up leaving him, throwing scones at him as they drove off. He was pretty happy, smiling from ear to ear, thanking us and saying that it was the coolest thing ever. We were pretty pleased with ourselves, and walked home with him.

Our school puts on a lot of fun, free activities during the first week of school. One of which was a concert, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. It was being held outside on the street that runs down the center of campus. It was huge! It was a really fun concert, and the perfect place for us to pretend like we knew people. As people passed us we would pat them on the backs, and when they turned around we would give them a thumbs up and say 'good job'. It was pretty funny. But then, one of the boys we did this too stayed. So of course we pretended like we had already met him, said we met him at the outdoor movie, and then he actually remembered us. He stuck around for at least a half hour, standing right in between us. We couldn't get rid of the guy. This was the start of our backfires. After Backfire The First left, we decided we needed to make new friends. There were some boys in front of us, one of which was cute and short...and we decided that they would enjoy their concert experience much more if we grabbed their shoulders and made them dance. They loved it! We ended up jumping, dancing, and swaying with them for the rest of the night. Sometimes we do things to make other people happy.

The next exciting thing that happened this year was that we got new furniture! We went to the DI to get a TV for our apartment, but happened to fall in love with something else...

Yes, we know that you are probably jealous of our orange DI chairs

These chairs have brought us much comfort and joy!

When we saw these orange chairs we were instantly intrigued. But when we sat in them, we knew they had to be ours! At $15 dollars a piece, we knew we had to act fast because there was no way these would stick around for long. And we were right. About five minutes after we pulled off the tags and claimed them as our own, we watched a man try and find the price tags so that he could buy them. I guess some things are meant to be!

The next memory we will write about is a funny one, not surprising. Our friends from apartment 8 invited us over to their margarita party. They said it was also a welcome home party for their friend Dave, or as we know him Davey Crocket. We had met Dave in passing maybe 2 or 3 times, but we didn't know him very well, and he didn't really know us either. But we thought it would only be appropriate to buy him a welcome home gift. We went to Wal-Mart before the party and tried to find the perfect gift. And thats when we set our eyes on a fiesty betta fish. We thought it would be pretty funny to give Davey Crockett a fish for his welcome home present, we figured he was ready for the responsibility! We got some colorful rocks, fish food, and a cute little jar to put the new fish in and we were set. We decided to name the fish King Trident (not to be confused with the gum) because of his wild ways. We showed up at the party and presented Davey Crocket with his new gift. The smile on his face and the dimples in his cheeks said it all. And no one expected any less from us. But, I am sad to say that this story has a sad ending. Over Thanksgiving break King Trident passed away unexpectedly from natural causes. He will be dearly missed, mainly by Davey.

Roommate Pictures: We decided that since our apartment is such a diverse crowd and we all get along so well that roommate pictures were needed. We somehow managed to round everyone up at the same time and get a few quality pictures together. They turned out pretty great...

After conference on Sunday we decided to take a drive up in the mountains to see the leaves changing colors. We also walked around at First Dam. It was so pretty, and such nice weather! The kind of weather that you miss (since its freezing cold now). Here are some pictures from that afternoon.

Roommate Halloween Party: For Halloween we decided to have a roommate party. We made carmel apples, and watched a scary movie, Casper the Friendly Ghost. It was fun for all of us to be able to hang out, rarely are we all home at the same time!

Yum!

Mini Thanksgiving: This was our second annual Mini Thanksgiving. The week before Thanksgiving break we always celebrate by eating Thanksgiving dinner, but everything is mini. We make a baby turkey, mini pies, and have mini portions of mashed potatos and corn. We dress up for the holiday, switching off each year who gets to be the Pilgrim and the Indian. It is one of our favorite traditions, and we know that it will start getting big soon.

Carving the baby turkey.

Cheers!

Making peace over dinner!

A few other things worth mentioning:
  • Butterscotch finally warmed up to us. He seems to not mind our pressence, and we found out he has a sense of humor
  • Nick Nack got engaged!!
  • Smurfee entered into a complicated relationship with Logan Meyers
  • We spent a friday night curled up in our chairs watching Dateline and drinking warm milk, in bed by 9.
As we think of more memories (which there are many more) we will post again!

Peace, love, and confusion!

Well, it's funny you should ask...

We actually met in the womb. Our parents got divorced after we were born when we were still babies. Lindsay went to live with mom, and Jacqui went to live with dad. We never knew about each other. Fast forward 12 years, and we meet each other at Girl's Camp. We really didn't like each other, and were constantly playing tricks on each other. Lindsay put honey in Jacqui's hair while she slept, and then feathered her. Jacqui put all of Lindsay's furniture on the roof of her cabin. Our leaders got fed up with these sorts of actions quickly, and decided to put us in the same cabin until we learned to get along. One night there was a really bad rainstorm, so we started to talk with each other. Lindsay pulled out a picture of the dad she had never met, and Jacqui pulled out a picture of the mom she had never met. Both pictures were ripped down the middle, and we put them together, finding that the two pictures were in fact one picture. We immediately bonded after this, finding out that we were in fact fraternal twins. Jacqui pierced Lindsay's ears, and Lindsay cut Jacqui's bangs. When girls camp ended, we decided to switch places with each other in attempt to reunite our parents. It worked! They got remarried! But sadly, they are now getting divorced again.

If you are thinking that this story sounds like a movie called "The Parent Trap", we have never heard of it.

Now that you know more about us, we will start filling you in on our daily lives, which are pretty exciting. We are waiting for the day that Oprah or MTV discovers us and offers us our own reality show. When the day comes we will call our show The Mountains. Here are the stories of us living in The Mountains.

We will start with Halloween...

For Halloween 2010 we came up with the brilliant idea to be Sailors! We knew that we had the most creative idea and that no one else would even think of it. We began dreaming the ideas of our costumes in our heads, picturing a big boat that we could set sail in (similar to Noah's) as well as a lot of fishing nets and anchors. Our boat ended up being made out of cardboard, duct tape, an old pillow case, and butcher paper...not quite suitable for sailing the seven seas, or even down the canal to our neighbors for dinner. But don't get us wrong, we couldn't be happier about the turnout (it's still in our living room as we type). Next, we had to find costumes. Instead of spending all of our money on a pre-packaged Halloween costume at some silly Halloween store, we decided to throw our own together. We found really cute shirts (dresses?) at Forever 21, for a very reasonable price. Added a pair of tights, tattoos (thanks to our tattoo artist Suzy), and sailor hats with iron on patches. Our look was complete! Mal-Pal came up from Salt Lake to accompany us to the Howl. Kirsten also joined us. We trekked up the mountain to campus (without our boat- it couldn't withstand the light rain), and stood in the longest line you could imagine. Good thing our precious friend Poncho was there to entertain us. He was without costume and a twirl. We didn't think we were going to get into the Howl since they oversold it by like 600 tickets. We waited in line for two hours before starting a riot. For usual entertainment, and to pass the time in line, we played our favorite game Operation Old Acquaintance, where we pretend like we have met strangers previously. They get really confused because we are professionals at this game. We finally got into the Howl around midnight, which was very unfortunate because it ended at 1 a.m. But this didn't stop us! We headed straight to the concert (We The Kings). We danced with at least half of the boys in attendance at the concert. We danced with Elvis, some cowboys, a boy in a towel, Hot Rod, and many more. Some of them ran (only like 2 people, really), most of them couldn't get enough. Many of these boys were probably confused when they got home and found that our tattoos had rubbed off onto their skin and clothes. But don't worry, it didn't get on our cute shirts (dresses?). The Howl was a success, as all of our days are. We danced our hearts out, and made many peoples nights. Job well done.

Now for the pictures...

Sailors in training, we salute you!

The pirate trying to steal our boat...unsuccessful!

We are cheerful.

Ready to set sail!
