Happy Mini Thanksgiving!

It's that time of year again....time for Mini Thanksgiving!

We always look forward to this time of year, we have so many things to celebrate and be thankful for! Of course since it is the week of Thanksgiving we had to celebrate in mini style! This has been a fun tradition for us to do over the years....this is year 3 of it! So much fun.

We spent our Sunday sleeping in, going to church, and getting ready. We prepared our own mini thanksgiving (MT), just getting ready for one day when we will make our own big thanksgiving! As we waited for the baby turkey to cook in the oven we made our mini white-chocolate pudding pies! We got prepared for MT by making a pilgrim hat and a feathered indian headband. We like to dress up, and take turns being each character every year. We made homemade mashed potatoes and corn. Maybe next time Jacqui will make candied yams!

We got the table all set with our mini bowls, silverware, lunch trays, and fancy glasses. Jacqui was the pilgrim so she got to carve the baby turkey this year. The dinner was delicious, the company was great, and we made peace over dinner!

Team Mound

So, on Friday night it snowed in Logan. It snowed a lot! We weren't prepared to be snowed in to our apartment....we needed food and supplies. Not to mention Mini Thanksgiving was coming up and we hadn't shopped for that yet either! So we decided to venture out to the store. We traveled down the icy, cold roads at like 20mph. Luckily Jacqui is such a calm driver in these conditions. We got all of our supplies and even a subway sandwich for dinner (thanks Lindsay's mom for the gift card, we appreciate it lots!).

After dinner we went upstairs and watched a movie with our friend Spencer and his roommate Tim (who just did homework the whole time). We watched a movie on netflix that one of Spencer's friends recommended called The New Daughter. It was the scariest movie! All of us were so tense and scared the whole time! It was bad news. After the movie was over we drove Tim up to campus to get his car.

When we got back we noticed that there were two snowmen that were made in our apartment complex. We decided that it would be super funny to move one of the snowmen from its spot on the grass, to the front door of the people that made it. So we went and got on our snow coats and went across the parking lot to accomplish the task! There was so much snow outside, we were sliding all the way over there.

The snowman was too big to move all at once, so we had to take it piece by piece. Now, let me just tell you. This snowman was nothing short of a masterpiece. It was human size, it had a sombrero, hair, a full face, and a scarf. Our intentions were not to ruin this great snowman. Just to move it. So, back to the story.... So Jacqui started jabbing at the neck of the snowman so that we could move the head first. She couldn't get it to budge. So Lindsay just took two hands and pushed on the head. As the head started falling off the body Spencer just stood there doing nothing, and Jacqui didn't catch it in time. So it just smashed into the ground....completely destroyed. Whoops. Right as it hit the ground, we heard the door of the snowman builders apartment open and heard someone yell "Hey! NOOOOOOOO!" They were in complete distress upon seeing their decapitated snowman. So naturally the three of us start running back to our apartment to get to safety. We were being chased! We felt like we were running in slow motion because we didn't want to slip and fall. We made it into our apartment in the nick of time, with our chaser right behind us, pushing on the door and trying to get it! It was quite the adrenaline rush!!

After the fun of knocking over the snowman head, and not even completing our task we decided that we needed a new prank. We decided to make a snowman blocking the entrance to the C building....so after waiting for about 15 minutes for our chaser to leave, we went to work. We tried rolling a snowman, but quickly found out that we weren't up to the task! So instead of making a snowman we made a snow mound! All of this 'mound' talk relates back to the scary movie we watched earlier. And this is all how Team Mound was created!

We did a pretty great job building the mound, and it was really funny! Hopefully the residents of C building enjoyed it!

Team Mound!

Our mound. It kind of looks like a castle.

Double Double Toil and Trouble (Halloween Weekend)

Yay!! Halloween. One of our very favorite holidays. We both love to dress up, and we love to think of costumes to wear. We decided our costume for this year probably almost a year ago. We just have so much fun planning these things. How could you not when there are so many great things involved? Like fake eyelashes, glitter, cute outfits, fun makeup....the list goes on and on.

So. Last year we were sailors, and we loved our costumes! They were pretty cheap, especially considering we NEVER buy our costumes from a costume store. We put them together piece by piece. And its safe to say that our sailor costumes were a lot cuter than any of the acutal sailor halloween costumes last year. So this year we decided that we would be siamese cats. As in conjoined cats. We had so much success when we dressed up as siamese mexicans, that we figured why not do it again? And we chose to be cats because they are cute, and we are cute, and we like to dress up cute. Make sense?

Naturally when October 1st came we decided that it was time to start shopping for our costumes and putting them together. We found our cat ears, and started working on our tu-tu's. Things were well under way for Halloween, and we were excited! Now lets move forward to Halloween weekend....

Friday:
We drove down to Salt Lake and went trick-or-treating at my (lindsay) mom's work. It was really fun to see Taylor (lindsay's niece) dressed up in her Halloween costume. And we got some yummy treats! After trick-or-treating we got ready to go to a concert.

At in-n-out.
Yes, we asked for hats.
Yes, we got many strange looks from other customers.
Yes, it was worth it.

Concert!
Kate Voegele and Parachute!
We were more than excited for this one.
So much fun!

In the concert!
We made our way through the crowd a little bit.
Thanks to a mom that was drunk, and there with
her young daughter and husband.
She felt bad for us because we were short and let
us stand in front of her!
It was definitely our gain!

After the concert under the sign!
This concert was so much fun!
Both of the bands were amazing!
This was such a great way to start off our fun weekend!

Saturday: Halloween Celebration.
On saturday we shopped in Salt Lake for awhile before heading back up to Logan. We went to stake conference on saturday night and then came home to get ready to go to The Howl (the biggest Halloween party in Utah, that happens to be thrown by our school)! We couldn't wait to get all dressed up and go party. The Howl is always so much fun, and it is definitely something we look forward to every year. Lindsay's friend Amy and her roommate Jessica also came up to Logan to go the Howl with us! It was so much fun to have them here! It was also pretty funny that our costumes coordinated.... who knew we would all be wearing homemade tulle tu-tu's?

So cat and swan like!!

Siamese cats/BFFs
Our cat costume turned out really cute!

Amy and Lindsay
BFFs since 3rd grade.

This picture is from the after party at Rancheritos.
We went there to get breakfast burritos with Amy and Jessica before they drove home.
And we happened to run into a lion and a monkey that we danced with at the howl.
They were pretty excited to see us again,
and the monkey made us take a picture with him,
we didn't mind.
P.S. the monkey and the lion made their costumes from baby halloween costumes!
hahaha!

And of course we ran into B.B. Gun at Rancheritos.
We run into him everywhere!
Ohhhh B.B. Gun.
And his costume? Who really knows what he is.
We have a few ideas....

3:45 a.m. Home at last, and happy as two cats can be. We would be even more happy if someone scratched behind our ears!

The Howl was a blast! Even though we were black cats, no one was scared to cross our paths. They had a concert that we stayed at most of the time! We all danced our little hearts out until we were either injured or too tired to move! They also had snake charmers with real life snakes, and free diet coke! It was the perfect Halloween party.....everything we ever could have wished for! We are thinking that because we were cats for Halloween that they should rename the Howl and call it the Meow. Just an idea for next year :)

Back to School

We started this semester off with my birthday. Jacqui decorated my room and surprised me with homemade peach pie! There were pink balloons everywhere, confetti all over the place, and pink streamers hung from the ceiling in our room (some of which are still there 2 months later). It was so much fun to come back to school to a decorated room. The roommates also made brownies for me! It was really fun. Jacqui is such a great friend.

This semester I am doing my student teaching. My first block is in a fourth grade class (which by now I have already finished) and my second block is in a kindergarten class (that's where I am at right now). I will graduate in December. It's pretty exciting and scary.

Jacqui's semester is a little less busy....but she definitely has enough to do. She is taking 9 credits (one of them is hip-hop that has reminded her how uncoordinated she is), so thats nice for her. But she is also working a couple hours a day, and she has a lot of volunteer hours to do as well. So she is keeping pretty busy too. Jacqui will graduate in the Spring, and we will be able to walk together then!

We are living in the same apartment complex this year, except now we are living in the basement apartment. Which comes with a few extra bonuses like: a patio, spiders, bigger kitchen/living room and a higher heat bill. So far it hasn't been too bad, and most of the spiders are dead in spider traps anyways! This year we have four other roommates. We are living with Clelia again for the 2nd year and two of her friends moved in as well, Misha and Aubrey. The other roommate that lives with us is a girl Aubrey became friends with over the summer, Julie. It has been really fun and we all get along pretty well.

Here are some fun things we have done so far this year......

This was us at a concert that they had on campus.
I believe it was the band A Rocket Summer.
We were so close we could touch him,
and we almost died in that crazy crowd!
Luckily we ran into the trusty J.Honda,
and he watched out for us and made sure that
we were right by eachother the whole time!

Relief Society canoeing, bonfire activity!
So fun, and we were so tan then....

Roommate Halloween party!
Caramel Apples!

(Top row: Lindsay, Misha, Julie
Bottom row: Clelia, Aubrey, Jacqui)

For our roommate halloween party we made carmel apples, which were delicious. And then Jacqui and I tricked our roommates into watching the scary movie The Roommate by putting the disc in a Casper the Friendly Ghost movie case. It was priceless. Misha left the room before the movie started, Aubrey left the room within fifteen minutes of the movie being started, Clelia fell asleep. So only three of us actually watched the movie! It was pretty creepy. Perfect to watch with roommates!

And this is a picture of the first apple that I ever recieved as a gift from a student.
I feel like I have finally made it as a teacher!
Sweet Rachael in my fourth grade class gave this to me,
along with a fake flower (because it will never die).
So sweet.

As you can tell, the school year has gotten off to a great start! We have been having so much fun, and we are trying to take advantage of our last year up here. It's crazy to think that this is our fourth year living in Logan! Time just seems to fly! We will probably be doing posts about our first few years living here, so it will be fun to catch up on all of that..... take a stroll down memory lane.
